This post will cover some of the common questions people ask before or during their Photoshoot.
What to wear:
The most important part of wardrobe selection is the fit. Chose clothing that fits you well and is snug fitting but not so tight that you can't move. It's key to not wear clothing that is too big and loose. Big clothing can make you look bigger. This is especially important for men in the neck and collars of their dress shirts and jackets.
I also recommend avoiding really busy and wild patterns that make the eyes go crazy as well as neon colors. Solid colors are great for headshots but a small pattern is fine.
Jewelry should be understated and not dominate in headshots. Can add more in portraits.
Branding portraits often reflect your brand colors in wardrobe choices.
I go over your wardrobe before your session in more detail either in a discovery call or in the prep guide. We can even do a zoom or FaceTime call and look over your wardrobe in more depth!
Hair and Makeup
Hair should be styled in the way your normally wear it and recently cut and/or colored.
For makeup I highly recommend getting your makeup done professionally either in studio or at Woo's- a boutique cosmetics store very close to my studio.
Several tips are in the prep guide for doing it yourself such as avoid SPF in foundation and moisturizer and really dark eyeliner.
Should I Smile?
This is a common question I get right before someone steps in front of the lights. My answer is- don't think about it! I'll work with you on expression and we'll get some natural smiles and work on hint of smile or more serious expressions too!
Tucker shows both in these portraits.
